OUR NAMES

a prairie start,
shadows over
your eyes,
jealous clouds
silently pass
brushing out
winds and
unanswered
prayers
drifting down
from above
with reflections
of paths missed
and words
of fire that
no rain could
quench
until the years
of tides
floated to
the surface
our names

###

RESTART

it was the end
of things
and the beginning
of another

a cast of
chances,
one step past
the hunger
and just beyond
the accidents
and ashes
born of fire

there were
battles about
prophecy,
answerless clouds,
stars without voices
and
why unscheduled rain
baptizes the poor
while the dark side
of the moon
turns from
tears falling
and prayers
lifted up

###

BREATHING IT IN

the sight
of rain,
a miracle
created
and then
released,

abstract
scattering
of sound
and touch

pin drops
of mist,
the frosting
on leaves,
the drops
on ponds
the colliding
on sand
the
blessing
of clean
