Poem: Peaceful Repose
By: James G. Piatt
There are images within my weary mind,
Like the tide rising from the cobalt deep,
Illuminating tenacious absurdities that I find,
Stirring in deep nomadic longings, as I sleep.
…..How do I gain an entrée to a peaceful repose?
In the turbulence of the green unruly sea,
And the sad weeping of the willow tree,
An emptiness is roused within my soul,
Shadowy Images enter and take their toll.
…..How do I gain an entrée to a peaceful repose?
Where is the humor where is the rhyme
Where is the hopefulness of our time?
What can be done to stem the tide, which
Crush the aspirations of each human’s pride.
…..How do I gain an entrée to a peaceful repose?
What can I escape to demystify, the
Looming darkness in the endless sky?
When can I find peace, live
My life without the terror’s, lease?
…..How do I gain an entrée to a peaceful repose?
