‘Falling Apart’ and other poems
By: Michelle Murray
Falling Apart
Things don’t seem to be
Going my way
I feel like
I’m falling apart
Piece by piece
A little here
A little there
Muscles are sore
Gray hairs are showing
It’s hard to get up in the morning
Get moving
The bed is warm and inviting
Blankets soft and cozy
It’s a bunch of little things
Making me feel this way
A pen out of ink
A notebook in the wrong place
Just things being not as they should
I know these things should not’ bother me
But they do
And throw me out of whack
However, I need to put myself together
With string
And crazy glue
If I need to
I have to get up, and go on.
I cannot
Fall apart.

Mirror Poem
Mirror Mirror on the wall
Who do you see
In the glass reflected at me?
I see a young girl
Smiling
Playing thumbs up
In the leaves of grass
Enjoying the sunshine
And being outside
Piggy-tales flying
As she runs with the wind
Growing now
Older and taller too
Still loving the feel
Of grass on bare feet
Watching for rainbows
And butterflies
Years go by
The days of playing
In the sun and grass
Limited
You have a family Of your own
Children to watch As they enjoy the grass and sunshine
Like you once did
Though a mother You may be
Part of you
Will always Be that little girl
Playing thumbs up In the grass.
Dancing Shoes
Put on your dancing shoes
Change your clothes
Become the star you are
Stand tall
Keep in frame
Mind the steps
Careful not to blunder
Get lost in the music
Let it guide you
Tones willing your feet
Where to go
Your body swaying
With the beat
Hold your partner close
Take them for
A spin
Or dip
The dance floor becomes
Your arena
Your place to shine
When the music stops
And the dance is done
You can’t help but think
Of the next time
You will
Put on your dancing shoes.
