Standing On the Edge

Standing on the edge
Teetering
Tottering
Trying not to fall off
It’s a balancing act
Step right
Then step left
Softly
Slowly
So as not to slip
Swinging my arms to balance
Like a circus act
Trying to stay on
Trying not to fall
To fall would be to fail
I want to move on
Away from this place
But something holds me here
I must
Master this pose
Master this edge
Before I move on

Just a Girl

As I walk outside
Under the big blue sky
Watching the clouds roll by
The sun on my face
Its rays beaming down on me
I realize
I’m just a girl
In this big world
A small figure
Walking along
A speck of dust
In this wide galaxy of space
This road I’m on
Just a small part
Of the vast universe
Filled with gases, stars, planets and such
And here I am
Walking
Wondering
Where I belong
What my place is
Just a girl
Strolling along.

Where Does the Sidewalk go?

The concrete path
Goes on and on
Winds
Turns
Block after block
Of squared patches
Cracked
Uneven
Marching forward
Curving slightly in the bend
What destination is at the end?
