Four Fall Haiku
By: Jim Bates
Hot September day
Dry grass crinkling underfoot
Thirsty squirrel pants.
Equinox arrives
Equal hours day and night
Nature’s symmetry.
Autumn breeze goes still
Thirsty leaves hang crispily
Dry air feels languid.
Geese flying honking
Swallows amass on taut wires
Sense of change looming.
