between whines about the early
morning rain from us under
umbrellas on this second day of
the all city fast pitch tournament
cheering for the cold wet players
mud sticking to little girls cleats

prepared to move
quickly right or left
a sudden gust blows
morning’s cold mist
a rain drop drips
from the 3rd baseman’s hair
