Then And Now
By: Snigdha Agrawal
She struck flints somewhere on the Deccan plain
Invented ‘ghar ka khaana’ long before there was grain
He came home bragging about hunting wild boar
But honestly, she always wound up doing more
She tanned hides, stored food, and mapped every land
He compared his biceps with the rest in the clan
If caves had payroll, she’d top the list
But patriarchy hadn’t been invented yet to resist.
Little did she know her load would only grow
Once society coined the phrase “bahu”
And thus, by default, added more chores
Now she runs companies, cabinets, and dreams
Negotiates budgets between two Zoom streams
Cooking is optional; confidence is not.
Ambition? Served sizzling hot.
He googles “how to be a supportive partner” at night,
She chairs a board meeting. Perfect, precise, right.
From cave fires to corporate empires grand,
She contributes to building the Nation’s pride.
From doormat to dynamite.
A triumphant story is hers.
Finally claiming long-overdue rights.
