Poem: Nobody Answers Us

By: Zunayet Ahammed

Here we come for fame, for respect, for enjoyment,
For amassing a huge amount of money,
For belittling men helpless and hapless
Not thinking about death.

Here moneyed men care nothing
Salute nothing
Only want all in their clutches
Never think of being defeated
Every moment they want to triumph over all
For power and pelf
Like storm.

Here we come for a series of questions
For exploring the unexplored
For keeping promises
For doing good to man
But nobody sees us
Affectionates us
Loves us
Answers us
Only all stare at us
In a diabolical mood!
