Poem: I Wait

I wait in darkness
I wait until the sun rises
I wait while daylight surrounds the darkened window
I wait as the sunsets and the moon moves high into the night sky
I wait while the moon glows and stars twinkle brightly
I wait as the street light shimmers through the blinds
I wait wondering if she will come
I wonder if I have crossed her mind
I wait as my stomach growls in hunger
I wait. I wait. I wait.
Another day has come and departed
Realization of aloneness consumes
