American democracy is lauded as structurally solid, composed of three strong equal governmental branches balancing and supporting each other for the good of the country. The fallacy of that assumption repeatedly emerged over these past four years. Every democracy-undermining action by the then-President, Attorney General and their enablers revealed our government is much closer to the game JENGA (TM) —a cantilevered structure that can potentially implode or be destroyed by one unstable piece. We should never forget how frighteningly close we came to the precipice of complete anarchy. How very fortunate our democracy only wobbled—this time.
