her hips move in tune
with her hands keeping time
signing words of his songs
to the rhythm of his rhyme

him rapping on her right
on the stage with his mic
voicing verse to the deaf
thru her signing on his left

those sitting in the rows
of their coffee shop seats
all swaying with her singing
bodies bopping to her beat

can’t hear him with their ears
so they listen with their eyes
to him rapping stage right
thru her signing at his side

the audience stands up
as the lights go bright
and we all dance together
to the rapper with the mic

and we all dance together
on ASL night
