Poems: ‘Blue House’ n ‘Fleeting Moments’

By Mitali Chakravarty

The artwork by Luis Cuauhtémoc Berriozábal

Blue House
(Inspired by Luis’s art)

Everyone has a dream
and mine is a blue house
against a blue sky. The
walls might dissolve

and I would be part of
a cloud wafting over
the sea. I would watch
the waves rise and ebb.

I would fly with birds
and watch the sun set
and rise. Each minute
would be a surprise!

I would be part
of the sky. And you,
my friend, would
watch me from afar.

I would wave and smile
and continue to glide…

Fleeting Moments…

The sky whispers songs
of different lands. It stretches
further than you or me,
towards infinite.

Have you seen infinite?
It has the stars and sun,
and a fleeting moon
on the run.

You can sense infinite
on a blade of grass with
a dewdrop secreting
rainbows in transience.

A rainbow grows and fades
like a surprise! Why, after rain,
do drops grasp the sunlight
in a prismatic twist of fate?

You smile my friend and say,
“That’s life!” I smile and gaze
at the distant sky that stretches
further than we can see…
