Poetry

She strolls into her study in
Her characteristic, Neanderthal gait;
Her shoulders drooping,
Her skin misted with sweat;
Her breath heavy
And her day laid waste.
She approaches her mahogany desk
Under the ornate ceiling
And devours the endless sheets
Of paper strewn all over it
With her malicious gaze.
She gives into a fit of blustering rage.
She gives into her desire to ravish.
She sinks heavily in her chair
And unsheaths her chaste pen;
She addresses its pointed nib
For a brief few seconds
And sets it down to the first
Sheet that lies innocently
Sprawled in front of her.
Her desire to ravish takes over
Her mind and body.
She looks like a spirit trapped
In an alien body.
Her fingers grip the pen firmly
And set it to task.
She pulls her chair closer.
She arches her back higher
And plunges herself into
Her voluptuous desire to ravish.
She looks unsympathetically
At the defenceless sea of
Parched, unblemished whiteness;
The pen’s sapphire hue glints
Viciously in the dim light.
She readies herself for the assault.
She runs her free hand through her hair,
Gathering her thoughts,
Assimilating what to scribble.
She ravishes the sheets of paper,
With her sure-footed pen,
Pouring onto them her curse, her bile.
She ravishes them, consumed with
Blustering rage, her mind numbed,
She ravishes them, again and again
Just as They ravished her.
