Poem: High School Crush

By: JD DeHart

high_school_crush

I am thankful for social media
and its constant reminder
of our wiser choices, its
flattering and unflattering images
It’s truth

Thank God for the landscape
of disconnected lines that tie us
to one another, without sight
and without sound, without tying
us really

we blink and blip
but never speak and we type
but never move our lips
we see without making
eye contact

It’s just a kind of knowing
without really knowing much
except things worked out well.
