In Pursuit of Purpose

By: Shilpa Rajagopal

Purpose is a funny word
deliberate and assuming
what is your Purpose? they ask
as if everyone is born knowing this fundamental truth,
following a linear road
as if there is singularity or absolutism to abstraction,
to ambition

to be Purpose-less is to be lost, they say
But there are wandering souls
who drift across the world
seeing, experiencing, and growing
they laugh and love with the stars at their fingertips
Is it Purpose? we wonder
or could it be –
a life simply lived
unconditionally
