Night
By: Chandra Shekhar Dubey
Spring has fallen
the air bounces with fluorescent
waves intoxicating the night.
I sit alone on the rock
tasting the stings of starry spikes
the murmurs of trees get lost
in the heat of whistling wind.
I taste love bitter
adding pepper to memories.
A broken promise.
An aborted plan.
Endless squirmishes.
I fall besieged by minstrels
of night teasing my dreams.
My loneliness deepens
with deepening silence of night.
Till the honking traffic
awakens me from my slumber.
Scribbling resolution for tomorrow.
Promises made and forgotten
My words.
My dreams.
And things that make life real
Not virtual.
