A haunting litany

By: Moulay Cherif CHEBIHI HASSANI

A haunting litany
Of love that can’t be denied
Painful absence
Loss of fragrance
Of a fallen live
Here and there, lived
So much bitterness swallowed!

And the end of the road a blatant truth,
An imminent separation
Will love triumph over so much derision?
Will love overcome so many decisions?
Which one day will fail on the asphalt
Where happiness would be banished,
Where sincerity would be betrayed!

What would become of this pure love?
Would it survive in this impure world?
Time would decide…
Would spare so many evils
Desired love
Love lived
Love scorned
Love… Would rise from your ashes!
