A crime novel: Compass Box Killer

compass box killer‘Compass Box Killer: An Inspector Virkar Crime Thriller‘ is a new novel in crime thriller category set in the by-lanes of Mumbai. Written by Piyush Jha, the novel starts with a murder. One muggy afternoon, a senior police officer is found murdered at his desk. That is where the story starts picking the pace. When Inspector Virkar from the Crime Branch arrives at the crime scene, he gets a cryptic note. It leads to a series of killings. The clues continue to flow out.

Accompanied by an attractive, ambitious TV reporter, Raashi Hunerwal, Virkar has to race against time to catch the Compass Box Killer before the bodies pile up. “As the investigation shuttles from Mumbai to Khandala to Belgaum, Virkar is taken deep into a labyrinth of backroom deals that lead to shocking revelations about the ruthless killers motives. Slick plot twists and high-adrenaline action mark the first of the Inspector Virkar Crime Thrillers part of the Mumbaistan series,” boasts the synopsis of the novel.

While it is yet to be seen, how the new novel fares with the reader’s choices, it is critical in the sense that India has recently seen an influx of crime thriller novels. The Literary Yard is keen to review the novel and might do it at the earliest as the copy lands in the hands of the editor.
