withoutyou

why have you left us,
star man?
seems the fabric of the universe
is coming untethered in your
absence,
and we still have the music
but without you
it just isn’t
quite
the same;
always i’ve heard the good die young,
but they’ve never told me why
it has to be that
way—
i hope i open my eyes and there will be
better tomorrows than the ones
we stand in today
because yesterday seems to hold more
truth in it than the promise of today,
and all the stars seem to shine a little less
bright now that you’re
gone.
