Penguin Random House India Starts the Indian Penguin League for Readers
Do you remember the last time you hid a book under the school table and flipped through the pages to play book cricket? For all the cricket enthusiasts out there, your favorite book publisher Penguin Random House India gives you a chance to relive your most cherished childhood memory with book cricket. With the entire nation under the cricket spell, the publisher recently launched Indian Penguin League, a unique game app that allows users to virtually play book cricket with any of the special edition 30th anniversary titles and complete against the other teams to achieve a perfect score. The game is based on the concept of flipping through the pages of a book and constructing artificial cricket scores through a sequence of rules.
Penguin is celebrating 30 years of its publishing anniversary in India and what better way to ring in the celebrations by offering our readers an opportunity to enjoy the country’s favorite sport with books. The game was launched over the weekend on May 20th and would be available on the Penguin India Facebook page till May 25th. Each day would be dedicated to a selection of carefully chosen titles – users can choose from any five titles or teams for the day and make the maximum score to help their team win quirky Penguin merchandise.
Commenting on the campaign, Hemali Sodhi, Sr. Vice President – Marketing & Publisher – Children’s said – “We’re a nation that is absolutely crazy about cricket. This is a special year for us as we celebrate our 30th anniversary of publishing in India. The India Penguin League is a fun way to enjoy the best of both the worlds of cricket and your favorite books.”
The game would be compatible for both desktop and mobile viewing.
