Poem: A Cookie As Smooth as Butter

I couldn’t help
eating the last
shortbread cookie from the jar

I knew that its rich flavor
that melts in your mouth
like a spoon of butter
is your favorite
midday tea-time snack

Please forgive me
for it was perfect
with my afternoon cup
of hot milk tea

I could not resist
eating the cookie
that was crisp on the outside
while soft and yellow on the inside
