Search for meaning

By Catherine Kusunoki

It was dark once again
in a world that was
supposed to be bright.
Fully consumed by negative thoughts
I set out to fight.

Vastly vain voices are heard
On the outside, my emotions
were covered by a mask
with the hope that nobody
had second thoughts to ask

My weakness was worrying substantially,
seeking validation from every person.
I ultimately believed in myself,
through joy and wide smiles,
and I finally felt free.

Catherine Kusunoki enjoys expressing her creative side through experimentation. She loves cooking and putting together new recipes for her friends and family to try. Despite only taking an interest in it recently, she also loves to paint pieces whether they are abstract or more on the modern side to continue fueling her mind.
