Search for meaning

By: Linda Barrett

Don’t cry for her,
Argentina.
She will be immortal.
Her prose will warn many
Of what is already happening
In our fragile world.
Her body conquered cancer
So many times.
While one young woman
Was scythed by the Grim Reaper
Much too soon,
Beatriz stayed on the earth
Long enough to write her warnings
To still reluctant eyes
about global warming
and chemical abuse
which could lead to the
end of our planet.
Don’t cry for her,
Argentina!
She wanted the world
To be immortal.
That’s all she wanted,
Not much to ask for.
