Four Winter Haiku

By: Jim Bates

Sub-zero wind blows
Ice crystals form on eyebrows
Thoughts of spring prevail.

Warm winter daydreams
Blue sky and bluebirds singing
Chase away the grey

Sunshine through bare trees
Shadows on snowy crystals
Stretching toward spring.

Subtle shift in mood
Sorting flower seed packets
Dreaming of daisies.

  1. Hi Laura! It’s great to see you. Thank you so much for reading and commenting on my haiku. I’m super glad you enjoyed them. And I can relate!! I love gardening and hope your daffodil bulbs flourish for a long time 🙂

    • Thanks!!! I just googled daffodil bulbs and found out you can plant them as late as today (February). Yay!! So you know where I’ll be after work today. Digging in the dirt!! Lol!! Happy gardening to you too!!

  2. Hi Laura. I live in Minnesota. There’s 2 feet of snow on the ground right now. I plant my spring bulbs in November usually. Or before the snow flies LOL!! Take care. Bring on spring! 🙂
