‘A Cardinal’s song’ and other Summer Haiku

By: Jim Bates

A Cardinal’s song
Fills a clear crisp morning dawn
Jump-starting the day.

Brilliant day ending
Setting sun and dusty sky
Wondrous light transformed.

Laying on a dock
Kids swirling hands in the lake
Playing with minnows.

Summertime soft rain
Falling on thirsty gardens
Plants drink joyfully.
