The Urbanite
By: Bruce Levine
Focused on the refrain
Elongated phrases
Lines like the symmetry
Of a skyscraper
Piercing the air
Toward the sun
Casting shadows
Along the sidewalks
Creating new patterns
Bent by the crosswalks
Of other shadows
From other towers
With geometric precision
In a profusion
Of pathways
Renewed and refreshed
By the cascading light
Of another day
Through complex permutations
For the urbanite to embrace
