Poem: Thief of stars

By: Linda M Crate

i wonder if i’ll be waiting my entire life in
anticipation for the first day of
my life
we exist,
but sometimes we forget to live;
i refuse to become
like you
always suspended in a dream that never
comes true
i am going to make my dreams a reality
kiss my fears and woes
joy and happiness are personal choices
i’ve decided to grab hold of
don’t need anyone
but me to
make me happy,
but you are not the same;
always needing a body to hold onto to feed
your dead corpse with
one day i hope that someone rips your bones
apart until all the stars, hopes, and dreams
you’ve ever
stolen break free
to their owners once more.
