Blue Pigeons
By: John Ziegler
Two soft curled feathers,
blow across the pavement.
The blue pigeons
bob their heads,
gather around
the old lady’s low heeled brown shoes,
shoulder up to her
to pick shelled peanuts,
still warm from her
soft palm.
They all seem old,
the pigeons, the lady.
None of us has long.
