Poem: The Best Kind of Travel
By: Divya Rosaline
I do not have the money to travel
But I have traveled far and wide
I’ve traveled the songs of dark – eyed women
With strange men by their side
And I have traveled my country’s pain
That seeps into her soil
I’ve traveled the history of her times
Well marked by faith and toil
And I may not have the composition
To withstand climatic snares
But I’ve seen the weathered faces of men
Who haven’t a damn to spare
It’s not been too long a journey
It’s been but a few moons since
Yet to travel faces Instead of places
Is the best form of travel I’ve seen!
I love the line ‘I’ve travelled the songs of dark eyed women’ made me think of sirens, was this the intent?
