We got back from pizza, and the kids went upstairs. Me and Cal were having coffee and he showed me this picture. It won some award. It showed a vulture sitting there. The thing was on the ground, watching some African kid, waiting for the kid to die. From hunger I guess.

I remember. Cal was pissed about that picture. He said they shouldn’t be showing that kind of stuff in papers. He’s right. Not when we got people starving right here. Show a picture of a poor kid in Houston. Let Africa worry about Africa. Sorry. We’ve got poor people right here.

We were talking about that when we heard the scream.
