Poem: Now I Love My Mirror

By Pijush Kanti Deb

mirror
Once I had a great abhorrence
of my mirror-
standing in my dark room,
knowing only to reflect
my bowing lonesome image
down to a gloomy star
oiling it to smile at me and my days to come
but now
I love my mirror
which walks along with me
reflecting my disintegrated images
of me, my beloved wife and my affectionate children
standing together on a mutual love for one another
enjoying the reverse oiling of that dogmatic star
to give us a lift
riding on it
up to our chosen destination of a vibrant dreamland.
