Poem: Losing The Battle

By: Kimberly Potter Kendrick

The voices are loud
The voices are whispering, always present
Racing thoughts, others pull up a seat
Muddling the wires, recipe for obsession
No peace
No peace
Never peace nor quiet
Soothing music, sunshine upon the face, listening to waterfall
Futile attempts to chase voices away
Is this how life is supposed to be?
Impossible challenges, failure
Exhaustion took place of motivation
Creativity stifled, depth of darkness
Laughter, even tears dissipate; numbness
Spirit stolen, emptiness
Exhaustion overwhelming
No strength to continue to fight
Losing the battling
The soul slipping away.
