‘Communication’ and other poems
By: James Aitchison
Communication
A slow soft voice
speaks in my soul.
Of wisdom and love,
I learn.
The tapestry of lives,
I clearly see.
Of recurring faults,
I am aware.
To instruction,
I awake.
The means to overcome
earthly bondage,
are mine.
Without fear,
I will live.
A pure heart
I ask nothing more
than a pure heart.
A heart that does not
discriminate or
draw distinctions,
a mellow heart
welcoming to all.
Give me reasoning
and logic, yes,
but surely a pure heart
would be my most
prized possession.
