Am I Forgetting Your Voice?
By Tabussum Sumaiya
Am I forgetting your voice?
The melody once etched in my soul,
A song that held my heart so close
Now it drifts away,
A whisper lost to time.
I close my eyes,
Straining to hear the gentle echo
Of you calling my name.
I used to smile, wide and unguarded,
Whenever our eyes met.
The golden days have slipped away.
The blessed moments swallowed by silence.
Now all that lingers
Is the hollow ache of forgetting;
A fear that even memories fade.
If the melody of you
Evaporates from my mind,
Will you still remember me?
The laughter in my voice,
The spark in my eyes
That lived only for you?
Do you recall those emerald aisles
Where we wandered
As though the world were ours,
Two shadows moving through the meadow,
Unaware that even songs
Can be silenced by time?
