‘Obviating (Emotional) Surgery’ and other poems

By: Paul Tristram

Obviating (Emotional) Surgery

Weaving of ‘Egg-Calcium’ amongst
verbal recollections
of Yesterday… to strengthen
memory-bones,
and help pillar the Totem
of our acquaintanceship, sturdier.
Hesitancy and Carefulness
are neck-and-neck…
yet, it should really be
Excitement and Enthusiasm
coursing the Hunt,
when Passion is, in fact, the Hare.
Leaner Times led
to Gluttonous Ambitions…
those left ‘Out in the Cold’
build Temples inside of new Homes.

Advice From The Battlefield Of Life

Make your mistakes (you are human),
as many as you need to,
and at any speed you want
… but, learn from them (once) fast.
Traverse your very own path…
appreciate and admire, by all means,
but, follow no one.
Stick to your guns, stand your ground
(ironically, the viler the hate,
the better that you’re actually doing)
… let nobody take away from you
what’s important
… partners will come and go,
possessions, you can always buy more,
ego’s a false crown
(and we all need a little push off
that perch sometimes).
I’m talking about ‘Birth Weapons’,
the ‘4 Fists Of Your Soul’,
‘Honour, Heart, Integrity and Dignity’
… don’t just ‘Walk the Talk’,
be a Full-Force-Creative-Locomotive!

Lapping… Away

… Standing Firm
upon Shaky Ground
… Strengthens
(Internal) Balance.
“I want to come with.”
she echoed
into the… receding…
Distance behind my
movement Forward.
“I don’t take Prisoners
… I make ‘em,”
was Red Flag enough.
‘Not looking for Love’
… is making
everyoneCLINGY
… sometimes
my ‘Depth’…
just needs ‘Shallow’
to ‘Trickle’ itself into…

… Echo… Echo… Echo…

Ducking and swerving… Kisses
like punches…
remaining (Emotionally)
always just out of… Reach.
I’ll give you my best ‘Smile’
right before Leaving…
and I never turn around,
or glance back… in fact,
my swaggering-pace quickens.
I kept ‘Interrupting’
… to catch you ‘Frown’
and I love it, you’re Stunning,
when you ain’t (Busy) looking.
Snake-Charming your Energy
… I’m Intrigued
by the Curve of your Affection.
My (Main) favourite colour
is ‘Burgundy’
… and you Taste just like It…
with Tantalising-Little-Tingles.
I knew from the very moment
that I looked into those Eyes
… that our First Date…
would echo a ‘Pathway’ forward.
