Search for meaning

i watched the flames
the candle wick
impressed with themselves
though they had
conquered nothing only
dulled the sparkle
of the candle,
and you are much the same
putting the light in the
candles of others;
but it doesn’t make yours shine
any brighter—
except you burn more than wax
you cut straight through
the bone into the
heart and soul of a creature so you
can devour all their soul
until nothing
remains but a broken shell,
but people are
stronger than they seem and they will
rise from your ashes of chaos
even stronger than you could have ever
because your imagination never
shone as bright as the flames you steal.
