George Orwell had a dream:
one day he’d write a book!

So first he went to Paris,
like every writer did.

Hemingway wrote well there,
Scott Fitzgerald too.

George found a rundown room
in the street of The Iron Pot,

washing dishes for food,
while his writing was rejected!

He stayed in bed — his refuge,
staving off hunger and cold.

Day after day, in bed —
his literary dream turned sour.

But in the end he didn’t fail:
being Down and Out was gold.
